Masao Yatsui Sensei

Masao Yatsui has a 3rd degree black belt in Aikido under Messores Sensei. Yatsui Sensei began teaching the Monday and Wednesday morning classes in 1997 when he retired from a career with Verizon as a central office equipment technician and installer. Sensei Yatsui started training in Aikido in about 1985 with his wife Pat, and has been training continuously for over 20 years.

Sensei Yatsui graduated from California State University, Long Beach, with a degree in economics. His pasttimes include kayaking, biking, and camping, and he also enjoys desktop DVD publication. He regularly makes DVDs of student tests at the Academy and sells them for $15; please contact him if you would like a copy of a recent test.

He married his wife Pat, in 1984; Pat is a Claims Manager for USAA Insurance. He has two sons, Darin and Mori, both of whom practice Aikido. The Yatsuis have "Akemi", a pet Shiba Inu (dog) and 2 Siamese cats, Joseph and Lily. They were named after hurricanes that developed when the Yatsuis adopted them.
